Pangs of hunger plague her stomach, and it feels like hells flames burn within her frail frame; if only they would cook her a meal. She staggers on weak and delirious, will she have a meal today ? She does not know.
The hot earth scotches her sore and blistered feet. She raises her face to the clear blue sky, it is a beautiful day in her eyes. And she gives thanks for it, even as the African sun unmercifully beats upon her tired flesh, like thembles. Despair weighs her down like an avalanche. A soft wimper bring her back to the babe tied to her back.
She continues her journey, and upon the city streets, sees a well dressed business man. T o her it seemed as if God had taken the stars and placed them on his shiny shoes. Surely someone with the stars on his shoes, must have a rich heart. Without further thought, she throws herself at his feet and begs him to have mercy on her and her child. she begs for mercy from another day of despair, and hunger.
The business man steps back as if a poisonous reptile has placed it's self across his path. He quickly crosses the street to get as far away from the pathetic specimen of a woman and the lump on her back she called a child. Tears stream down her face, she feels humiliated and useless. Perhaps today is the day her and her child will die after all, and escape the suffering she has known too long. A hand touches her shoulder, she turns to see a little boy besides her. He was on his way to buy a bicycle, but thought she was more important. Without a word he handed her his piggy bank.
